Hekate’s Flame Apothecary ~ Behind the Candle

I am delighted to share my story with you, which emerged from my lifelong dreams of being a psychotherapist, a candlemaker, and a mythologist.

I can't remember exactly how old I was, but for as long as I can remember, the glowing softness of candlelight was a magical thing, and I've spent many hours lost in reverie, staring at shop window candles, idly dreaming of making my own scented, smooth-burning beauties. And ever since my early adulthood, my home has always had a steady supply of candles constantly burning, giving that glow of peace and tranquility.

Growing up immersed in the rich cultures of Greece and Anatolia, mythology became a cornerstone of my upbringing, igniting a deep passion for stories of gods, heroes, and timeless archetypes. It was through these myths that I first glimpsed the transformative power of narrative and symbolism, themes that now resonate in my therapeutic approach and my candle creations.

During my years of education and personal development, my professional path grew, and I became a licensed psychotherapist who explores with clients the layers of their being – mind, body, and soul. Indeed, my work tends to the human psyche in a very intimate way. It involves being present with people in their interior lives as they work through trauma and unlock their inner worlds.

Through the depth of our work, I witness people as they navigate their inner world and cope with the wounds of trauma. In my practice and life experience, I began to understand how scent can profoundly impact our emotional well-being due to the connection between the olfactory system and the brain's limbic system, which governs emotions, memory, and mood. Indeed, scents can activate memories and emotions, influencing psychological states and physical responses.

By integrating my psychotherapeutic training with my passion for candlemaking, I aim to create offerings that transcend mere sensory pleasure. Each candle is crafted to channel archetypal energies from myth, legend, folklore, or pop culture, inviting moments of self-discovery and emotional reflection. I select fragrance and essential oil blends with intention, selecting scents that echo the stories they’re meant to embody.

Hekate's Flame is the offspring of these passions. For me, this isn’t just about crafting candles.

It’s about offering you a space for reflection, a touch in the darkness, a reconnection to the timeless wisdom of archetypes and the quiet alchemy of scent.

There's a candle for every archetype ~ from the fierce courage of the Warrior to the shadowed knowing of the Witch, from the nurturing wisdom of the Mother to the deep intuition of the Seer.
